Spatial Variability of Root Knot Nematodes in Relation to Within Field Variability of Soil Properties

چکیده
Site-specific management (SSM) of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) fields under risk of southern root-knot nematode [M. incognita] (RKN) infection may offer producers better management of on-farm resources and optimization of profitability. However, it requires the study of RKN spatiotemporal variability and the identification of surrogate data spatially correlated with its occurrence. The objectives of this study were (i) determine the magnitude, extent, and changes through time on the spatial variability of RKN at the field scale, (ii) establish the relationship between RKN occurrence and the spatial variability of soil physical and chemical properties, and (iii) delineate areas at risk for RKN based on surrogate data. The spatial relations between soil physical properties (soil electrical conductivity ECa, slope, and elevation) and soil chemical properties (P, K, Ca, Mg, and soil pH) on RKN population density were studied in two cotton fields planted in southern Georgia, USA, in 2006. The spatio-temporal variability of the RKN was studied through semivariograms. The spatial correlation between RKN and soil properties was studied through canonical correlation and crosscorrelograms. Soil properties highly correlated with RKN population density were entered into an

Applying Spatial Geostatistical Analysis Models for Evaluating Variability of Soil Properties in Eastern Shiraz, Iran
ABSTRACT- The information on the spatial properties of soil is vital to improve soil management and to increase the crop productivity. Geostatistical analysis technique is one of the most important methods for determining the spatial properties of soil. The aim of this study was to investigate spatial variability of soil chemical and physical attributes for field management in eastern Shiraz, I...
متن کاملSpatial variability of some soil properties for site specific farming in northern Iran
Evaluating agricultural land management practices requires knowledge of soil spatial variability and understanding their relationships. Spatial distributions for fourteen soil physical and chemical properties were examined in a wheat field in Sorkhankalateh district, in Golestan province, Iran. 101 soil samples at the distances of 5m, 10m and 20m as nested grid were collected at the depth of 0-...
متن کاملReaction of Different Pepper Cultivars to Two Species of Root- Knot Nematodes (M. Javanica and M. Incognita)
Root knot nematode is one of the important plant pathogens that causes damage to many crops, including greenhouse crops. Pepper is an agricultural crop which its cultivation has increased in recent years, especially in greenhouses. Most of the adopted management methods for this nematode have not met the required efficiency. In this study, reaction of some pepper cultivars (Elmina, Tuvana, Chal...
متن کاملSusceptibility Assessments of Tomato Genotypes to Root Knot Nematodes, Meloidogyne javanica
Root-knot nematodes, Meloidogyne spp., are one of the important plant parasitic nematodes of tomato in the world. The most suitable control method of plant parasitic nematodes is the use of resistance sources and tolerant cultivars. In the earlier studies, the results showed thatonly 2% (19 out of 537 varieties) were resistant and tolerant to the root knot nematodes. In the supplementary studie...
متن کاملSoil Texture Affects Meloidogyne incognita and Thielaviopsis basicola and Their Interaction on Cotton
The root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita, and the soilborne fungus Thielaviopsis basicola, the causal agent of black root-rot, are important plant pathogens of cotton in Arkansas. When M. incognita and T. basicola occur in the same field, greater damage may occur on cotton than when only one of the pathogens is present. Studying the relationship of soil factors on M. incognita Monfort et a...
